The effects of long-term herbivore exclusion on mosquito abundance, diversity and viral infection rates: a preliminary study

Together with partners from the Odum School of Ecology & Department of Infectious Diseases, University of Georgia, we are conducting studies on biodiversity-disease associations in mosquitoes and sandflies with focus on arboviruses.

Specifically, this project takes advantage of the Kenya Long Term Exclusion Experiment (KLEE) at Mpala Research Centre, to test how species loss in a natural system affects the abundance and diversity of mosquitoes and sand flies and the viral diseases that they carry.
