St Jude's Clinic, Mbita

St Jude’s Clinic is a comprehensive outpatient clinic based at the icipe Thomas Risley Odhiambo Campus, Mbita, along the shores of Lake Victoria, western Kenya. The Clinic, which is open to icipe staff and their families, as well as the community living adjacent to the Campus, is the only facility in the area providing quality health care, including access to qualified doctors and a dental unit.

The Clinic offers medical consultation, a wide range of laboratory tests, x-ray services and antenatal and well-baby care services. In partnership with the Ministry of Health, St. Jude’s Clinic also provides family planning, vaccination, HIV and TB care services.

Overall, St Judes Clinic is a key cog of icipe’s Human Health Theme, contributing knowledge on malaria and other diseases. In the past six years, the facility has hosted more than 12 clinical trials in collaboration with its key partners: the Kenya Medical Research Institute, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine; the Royal Tropical Institute, KIT, Amsterdam and the Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre.
