Fruit fly IPM technology upscaling and dissemination among smallholder fruit growers in East Africa

Through this project, icipe seeks to assemble fruit fly management packages based on baiting and male annihilation technique, classical biological control, biopesticides, ant technology and orchard sanitation for large-scale field application, adaptation and dissemination in Kenya and Ethiopia through hands-on farmer field school (FFS) IPM approach. Adequate training of government extension workers and community extension service providers (CESPs) is in-built into the project. The project will also train fruit growers on quality market requirements and raising awareness on current market quality needs in addition to production of appropriate extension materials (manuals, leaflets, posters, audio and visual CD rooms) on fruit fly IPM.
