AFS4FOOD - Enhancing food security and well-being of rural African households through improved synergy between agroforestry systems and food-crops

While the experiences of agroforestry management are increasing, with mixed results in restoration or maintenance of soil fertility and benefits of rural people who implement them, this project aims to demonstrate that there is no incompatibility between perennial crops for commercial and food crops. Instead, the project is betting that agroforestry systems based on perennial crops can help improve food security and well-being of African farmers.

Three African countries are participating in the project to share their experience in the management of three different agroforestry systems: cacao in Cameroon, coffee in Kenya and clove in Madagascar.
