icipe Director General, Dr Segenet Kelemu, appointed to the United Nations University Council

The icipe Director General, Dr Segenet Kelemu, has been invited to serve in the United Nations University (UNU) Council by the United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon and Director General of the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Irina Bokova. The UNU is an autonomous UN organisation, which carries out research, postgraduate training and the dissemination of knowledge. It is above all a research institution but also serves as a think tank for the UN system, through its activities aims to contribute to capacity building particularly in developing countries, and serves as a platform for new and creative ideas and dialogue.
