Mr Angshu Sengupta

Mr Angshu Sengupta joined icipe as Interim Deputy Director General, Corporate Services, effective 15 April 2024. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calcutta, India, and is a certified chartered accountant of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

Mr Sengupta is a seasoned senior executive with extensive hands-on professional experience in the areas of finance, operations, strategy, project management and transformation. His experience of more than 30 years covers manufacturing, international consulting assignments, the international telecommunications industry, and more recently, the international non-profit research organisations.

Previously, he was the Deputy Director General, Corporate Services at the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT, 2021 to date) in India. Prior to joining ICRISAT, Mr Sengupta previously worked as Director, Finance, Risk and Legal at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI, 2019-2021, The Philippines), as Chief Financial Officer at AGC Networks (2016–2018, India), as Vice President at Tata Consultancy Services (2011–2016, India), as Vice President, Finance and Accounts (Chief Financial Officer) at Vodaphone India Services (2009-2011), as Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer at CFC India Services Pvt/Bank of America (2006-2009), as Chief Financial Officer at Trinity Computer Processing, India Pvt Limited (a subsidiary of Willis Insurance USA, 2006), as Service Finance Leader at Wipro GE Medical Systems Pvt Ltd (2004-2005, India), as Assistant Vice President at GE Capital International Services (2000-2004, India), as Finance Specialist at SwedCon & Dactus International (1998-2000, Stockholm, Sweden), as Regional Manager Accounts (West) at GE Lighting India Pvt Ltd (1996-1998, India).

In previous and current assignments, he has provided strong leadership skills in leveraging business planning, information technology and financial expertise to reduce costs, improve productivity, drive business plans, manage change, and monitor working capital. His experience includes working with various multicultural teams to meet global business goals across industries and countries, cultures and environments.

Mr. Sengupta’s strategic and operational experience from international organizations will serve icipe well as the Centre moves to adapt and keep up with the contemporary shifts and disruptions and align itself to fully reap the benefits of the changes.
