Dr Bonoukpoè M. Sokame

Dr. Bonoukpoè Mawuko Sokame is a Postdoctoral Fellow (Crop losses to Pest Modeler) in the Data Management, Modelling and Geo-information Unit (DMMG) and is based at Duduville.

He holds a PhD degree in Crop Protection from the University of Nairobi, Kenya, and MSc and BSc in Agricultural Sciences (Agricultural Engineering) from the University of Lomé, Togo.

Sokame has been working as a Measuring and Crop Yield losses Modelling Consultant at icipe since January 2021. Prior to joining icipe, he worked at International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Benin station in developing IPM packages with biopesticides and biorational pesticides for crop pest control in field conditions and different landscape types. He has also served as a Research Assistant at School of Agriculture, University of Lomé, Togo.

He has authored 17 peer-reviewed publications and mentored several postgraduate students, and has been a recipient of several awards including the IITA, ARPPIS-DAAD and IDEEV scholarships and is an Associate Editor of African Association of Insect Scientists (AAIS).

His research focuses on modelling changes in crop-pest interactions with associated yield losses due to climate change using system dynamics modelling approach to guide preparedness and intervention strategies of pest control in cropping systems.
