Stakeholder Engagement Plan (SEP) for Accelerating Innovation and Catalyzing Capacity for Resilience in Africa (AICCRA) Project
The International Development Association (IDA) of the World Bank intends to provide funding for the implementation of Accelerating Innovation and Catalyzing Capacity for Resilience in Africa (AICCRA) Project (P508689).
The Project aims to catalyze a transformative shift in sub-Saharan Africa’s agricultural sector by strengthening innovation systems that are essential for enhancing smallholder productivity, climate resilience, and market competitiveness.
The Project Development Objective (PDO) is to scale adoption of agriculture innovation by smallholder farmers and enhance scaling capacities of regional organizations in Africa. The project focuses on advancing technologies and practices in:
• Climate Information Services (CIS),
• Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA), and
• Nutrition-Smart Agriculture (NSA).
AICCRA will be implemented in six focus countries: Senegal, Mali, Ghana, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Zambia, with broader regional activities across West, East and Southern Africa.
The project is led by the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe) with implementation support from five regional organizations: ASARECA - Association for Strengthening Agricultural Research in Eastern and Central Africa, CCARDESA - Centre for Coordination of Agricultural Research and Development for Southern Africa, CORAF - West and Central African Council for Agricultural Research and Development, ICPAC - IGAD Climate Prediction and Applications Centre and four CGIAR Centers: Africa Rice, International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), and International Livestock institute (ILRI), and Alliance of Bioversity and International Centre for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT). Implementation will also involve key collaborations with national public institutions, universities, research and development organizations, private sector, and non-governmental organizations.
In line with this multi-stakeholder approach, icipe has prepared a Stakeholder Engagement Plan (SEP) to define a program for stakeholder engagement, information disclosure and consultation throughout the entire project cycle. It also provides a mechanism for stakeholders to raise concerns, offer feedback, or submit complaints related to the project activities.
The SEP has been prepared in accordance with the World Environmental and Social Framework (ESF) specifically standard 10, Stakeholder Engagement and Information Disclosure.
Accordingly, this public NOTICE is hereby served to inform the public that the AICCRA Stakeholder Engagement Plan is published and electronically available here.
This notice is issued by icipe on August 15, 2025.
All relevant interested parties are welcome to engage. For further inquiries and submissions about this project, please contact:
