Dr Oscar Ochieng Mbare
Dr Mbare is a postdoctoral research fellow with the Malaria Research Programme interested in understanding the ecology of infectious vector-borne diseases. He is interested in infectious disease epidemiology, especially research aimed at elucidating mechanisms that mediate spatio-temporal epidemiology of malaria, and intersectoral control of the disease. His current research aims to understand the linkages between new irrigation schemes and malaria transmission. This research aims to provide information-base to inform policy makers and all stakeholders involved in the planning and implementation of irrigation schemes to allocate resources and adopt strategies to alleviate health risks to community and work in an integrated fashion towards the goal of malaria elimination.
He holds a PhD in Medical Entomology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
