The Regional Scholarship and Innovation Fund (Rsif) is the flagship programme of the Partnership for Skills in Applied Sciences, Engineering and Technology (PASET), established by African governments to address critical gaps in knowledge and skills necessary for long-term, sustained economic growth in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). Rsif is anchored at the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe) in Nairobi, Kenya, which serves as the Regional Coordination Unit (RCU).

icipe seeks the services of an Individual Consultant to Facilitate and Deliver Science Paper Writing and Grants Proposal Writing Workshops for Rsif Scholars and Alumni

In this regard, icipe seeks to engage a qualified Individual Consultant to support the planning, facilitation and delivery of a practical and interactive Science Paper Writing and Grants Proposal Writing Workshop aimed at strengthening the capacity of Rsif Alumni in developing competitive grant proposals for research, innovation and funding opportunities.

The consulting services (“the Services”) will be to improve the ability of the selected Post-docs and PhD scholars to develop ‘winning’ proposals.

The International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology now invites eligible individual consultants (“Consultants”) to indicate their interest in providing the Services. Interested Consultants should provide information demonstrating that they have the required qualifications and relevant experience to perform the Services. The shortlisting criteria are as follows:

A.    Preliminary Requirements
a)    A cover letter expressing interest in this assignment and signed by the applicant, including contact details (e-mail and telephone).
b)    PhD degree in Applied Sciences, Natural Sciences, Agricultural Sciences STEM related disciplines or any other relevant scientific field

B.    Technical Proposal Requirements
Interested consultants should submit a Technical Proposal demonstrating the following:
a)    Clear understanding of the assignment/interpretation of the TORs and methodology to be used during the assignment. 
b)    The methodology to be used during the assignment.
c)    Work plan clearly indicating the maximum time and duration required for the assignment. 
d)    Attach a comprehensive CV confirming the following:

i.    At least 5 years’ of demonstrated experience in scientific publishing, grant proposal development, and the design and delivery of scientific writing and grant proposal writing training workshops, preferably for African-based scholars and researchers.

ii.    A strong publication track record in high-impact international journals, preferably in Applied Sciences, Engineering, and Technology (ASET) fields, as well as demonstrated success in developing and securing competitive research and innovation grants.

iii.    Demonstrated capacity or experience in facilitating practical, hands-on workshops that support participants to develop publishable scientific manuscripts and competitive grant proposals. (Attach at least three (3) relevant assignments undertaken in the last five (5) years)

e)    Provide at least three (3) references from reputable organisations where the applicant has provided services of similar nature as sought by icipe. They will be contacted.
f)    The application and all supporting documentation should be in English language.

C.    Financial proposal: 
Provide competitive fees quote in (USD) to perform the assignment, with a clear breakdown of each cost and any chargeable taxes.
