Dr Abdou Tenkouano assumes office as the Director General of icipe

We are pleased to announce that Dr Abdou Tenkouano assumed office as the new Director General of the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe), on 1 January 2024.  Dr Tenkouano took over from Dr Segenet Kelemu, who held the Centre’s helm from November 2013 – 31 December 2023. Since his arrival, Dr Tenkouano has embarked on an induction programme encompassing icipe and the Centre’s stakeholders.

BMZ/GIZ to provide core funding to icipe, building on a solid partnership and a vision of innovations for socio-economic transformation in Africa

On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) has signed an agreement with the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe) to provide the institution with annual core funding for the period 2023 – 2025.

Mastercard Foundation, icipe and partners sign new agreement to scale-up their formidable youth employment model in Ethiopia – new initiative to benefit 1 million young people

Over the past eight years, the Mastercard Foundation, the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe), and private and public sector stakeholders, have implemented two major initiatives that have provided an indisputable, highly successful model to use integrated beekeeping to generate dignified and fulfilling jobs for masses of young people in Ethiopia, and an entry point for a One Health approach to socio-economic transformation.

The Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad), has signed an agreement with the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe), to provide the institution with annual core funding.
