One million farmers in Africa to benefit from new initiative to extend icipe’s highly successful, climate-smart, agroecological fall armyworm management package

The International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe) has received a grant amounting to EUR 2,999,760.58 through the Fund for the Promotion of Innovation in Agriculture (i4Ag), to upscale the Centre’s highly successful, integrated pest management package for the fall armyworm. Through a project known as Agroecological Innovations for Smallholder Pest Management (EcoPM), icipe and partners will reach one million farmers in Malawi, Uganda and Zambia.

France-icipe partnership reinforced with award of top honour to Centre’s Director General and renewal of partnership arrangement with key research institute

icipe Director General, Dr Segenet Kelemu, has been decorated with the second highest award of France; the title of Officier de L’Ordre national du Mérite (Officer in the National Order of Merit).

icipe announces ten new BioInnovate Africa grants to enable scientists create biologically based ventures that foster a sustainable bioeconomy in eastern Africa

Nairobi, 19 December 2022. The International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe) through its Bioresources Innovations Network for Eastern Africa Development Programme (BioInnovate Africa) – a regional science and innovation driven initiative – is pleased to announce 10 new grants of approximately USD 10 million for regional innovation collaboration projects in eastern Africa for the next three years.
