We are pleased to inform you that icipe Director General, Dr. Segenet Kelemu, has been featured in The CEO Magazine as one of the exceptional leaders from around the world, breaking ground and shattering the glass ceiling.

Creating opportunities for youth
Alongside other development partners and agencies, icipe recognises the urgent need to enhance productive employment for the youth, as a fundamental component for Africa’s socio-economic transformation, in alignment with the African Union (AU) Agenda 2063 and the aspirations of the United Nations Sustainable Development Agenda (SDGs).

icipe to manage regional doctoral training, research and innovation fund
The International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe), Kenya, has been selected to manage the Regional Scholarship and Innovation Fund (RSIF), an initiative aimed at strengthening doctoral training, as well as research and innovation in applied sciences, engineering and technology (ASET), in Africa.

icipe Periodic External Review 2013 – 2017
The International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe) as a Centre of excellence embraces the need for constant re-evaluation towards innovative planning, execution and overall operations. With the revision of the Centre’s strategy in mind, the Governing Council (GC) of icipe commissioned the icipe Periodic External Review (IPER) in 2018 for the period of 2013-2017.

Beekeeping in Ethiopia: icipe-EU partnership
The number of Ethiopian farmers using modern beekeeping technologies introduced by the International Centre of Insect Physiology (icipe), has increased eight-fold over the past seven years, from just 120 in 2011 to 900 by end of 2017. Significantly, more than one third of these farmers are women, in a country where beekeeping is traditionally considered a male-only occupation.
