Launch of The New Phase of The Pan African Regional Scholarship and Innovation Fund

Nairobi, Kenya, 24 November 2018: The International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe) has signed an agreement with the Pan African Regional Scholarship and Innovation Fund (RSIF), one of the flagship programs of the Partnership for skills in Applied Sciences, Engineering and Technology (PASET) for the Centre to administer the Pan African Regional Scholarship and Innovation Fund (RSIF).

New edible cricket species discovered in Kenya

Researchers at the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe) in Nairobi, Kenya, have discovered a new, previously undescribed edible cricket with great promise for mass production for human consumption and inclusion as an alternative protein ingredient in animal feeds.

icipe Solar PV Plants officially commissioned

Nairobi, Kenya, 28 September 2018 – The International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe) has officially commissioned two solar photovoltaic (PV) power plants — at its Duduville Campus headquarters in Kasarani, Nairobi, and at the Thomas Odhiambo Campus on the shores of Lake Victoria. The USD2.5 million system is funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

icipe in Uganda

icipe opened an office in Uganda in 2012. Based in Tororo, eastern Uganda, the office was mandated to disseminate the Centre’s Push-Pull technology, with support from the programme team based at the icipe Thomas Odhiambo campus, Mbita, on the shores of Lake Victoria in Kenya. These early efforts enabled the expansion of the technology to four districts in eastern Uganda.
