Community of Excellence for Research in Neglected Vector Borne and Zoonotic Diseases (CERNVec)

CERNVec is a community of Excellence that brings scientists and institutions together to study, develop, and apply knowledge and tools to neglected vector-borne and zoonotic diseases.

These diseases represent a key threat to public health and also lead to productivity loss in Kenya (with 50% of the population exposed), and tropical Africa in general.

This is compounded by climate and land use changes. CERNVec has brought together resources (including specialized facilities and expertise), contributing to Health Policy, a one-health approach to health research, and to knowledge sharing through E-learning and distance learning platforms.

CERNVec has hosted postdoctoral fellows, and conducted group training events in fields such as GPS and GIS.
