icipe research selected Biomedical Picture of the Day (BPoD)
An image from a paper published by Joel Bargul, a recent icipe PhD graduate, and Jamin Jung, University of Wuerzburg, and colleagues in the Journal PLoS Pathogens in February 2016 has been selected as the image of the Day for 23rd April 2016 by BPoD (Biomedical Picture of the Day), which is managed by the UK MRC Clinical Sciences Centre.
Tsetse genes identified
A recent study by icipe that has identified the genes responsible for chemical sensing in tsetse flies could help to improve the way that the insects are managed, because they carry the trypanosome parasite that causes human sleeping sickness and the livestock disease nagana.
US$ 2.5M renewable energy project

$10.35M initiative to reach 12,500 Ethiopian youth
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 3 March 2016 – The International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe), and The MasterCard Foundation today announced a US$10.35 million (approximately 220 million Ethiopian birr) commitment towards creating employment opportunities for young people through beekeeping and silkworm farming.
Recommendations for insects for food and feed
