Contract Title: Develop a gender impact story for the rice, maize and chickpea East Africa project sites

Location(s): Kenya and Ethiopia

The International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe) was established in Kenya in 1970. icipe is the only independent international institute working primarily on arthropods. It employs a diverse range of scientific disciplines holistically to perform original research on pest and beneficial insects and arthropods with the goal of improving human and livestock health, crop production, ecological systems and well being of communities.

  1. The Gender impact story will be carried out concurrently in Kenya and Ethiopia, in July 2019 for a period of a period of 40 days, and the final report must be delivered by end of July 2019. The selected candidates will be compensated from a negotiated consultancy fee.

  3. Required qualifications include, but are not limited to:
    1. Preferable PhD in development and gender studies; sociologists, economists (agricultural and development).
    2. Demonstrated experience in qualitative and quantitative gender analysis (attach one paper or working paper on this).
    3. Solid experience in conducting focus group discussions (FDG) (attach checklist you developed in your previous work).
    4. Field experience in rural villages, with supporting evidence.
  4. icipe now invites interested parties who can demonstrate technical capability to provide the said Consultancy service.
  5. Bidding and evaluation will be conducted through the icipe procurement policies amended 2014.
