1.    The International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe) is an intergovernmental organisation headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya that carries out research and training in sustainable management of insects (arthropods) for improving comprehensive health and agricultural productivity in the tropics (www.icipe.org).

2.    icipe wishes to carry out renovations, upgrades and construct new cold rooms with an objective of having energy efficient and modern cold rooms which utilize environmentally friendly refrigerants. The existing cold rooms are being used to preserve research materials in the laboratories and food items for the ones in the guest houses.

3.    icipe now invites Expression of Interest from eligible firms who can demonstrate both technical and financial capability for provision of Services for the Construction of new Cold Rooms, Renovation and Upgrade of existing ones at icipe Duduville & Mbita Point Campuses.

4.    Interested parties should provide proof of:

  1. Registration under the Company’s Act and provide copies of the Registration and VAT Certificates and company offices’ location details. Must have been in this business for at least five (5) years.
  2. Experience in at least three (3) projects of similar nature and with value of at least US$10,000 per project, undertaken in the last five (5) years. Provide evidence of this experience by listing the previous and current projects, cost of each, status of completion, completion date if already done and full contact details of the clients. Make sure the scope of work in these projects are well outlined.
  3. List of key personnel (management, support and technical) stating their qualifications and years of experience in the relevant field & with the company.
  4. Provide audited financial statements/accounts for year 2014, 2015 & 2016.

5.    Expression of Interest must be delivered to the address below on or before 11:00 hours East African Time on Friday, 15th December 2017 at 11:00 hrs. The submission in hard copy must be in sealed envelope clearly marked: Expression of Interest for the Proposed Construction of new Cold Rooms, Renovation and Upgrade of existing ones at icipe - Contract No CR/OO1/2017. The printed and spiral bound original should bear the tenderer’s full postal address and each page should have a signature of authorised representative, with official seal. Electronic submissions shall not be permitted. Late submissions will be rejected. The submissions will be opened in the presence of representatives of those submitting at the address below on Friday, 15th December 2017 at 11:00 hours at Duduville Campus Kasarani in Hive meeting room.

6.    General Information and Notice:

  1. Any information provided by the bidding party will form the basis of any contract that may be entered between icipe and the bidder.
  2. icipe shall not be liable for or be required to pay any costs, expenses or losses that may be incurred by the bidding party in the preparation of their EOI.
  3. icipe reserves the right to accept or reject any proposal without assigning any reasons thereof.
