Research project: Assessment of the efficacy of a repellent mixture isolated from Waterbuck to protect cattle and enclosures (kraals) from a vector of human sleeping sickness and animal trypanosomiasis- Glossina

Njelembo is a DRIP PhD Scholar supervised by Dr Rajinder Saini (icipe), Prof. Baldwyn Torto (icipe), Dr Janet Irungu (icipe) and Prof. Christian Pirk (University of Pretoria, South Africa). Njelembo’s research interests include control of insect vectors and the diseases they transmit. He is currently evaluating the efficacy of a chemical mixture isolated from waterbuck to protect cattle and enclosures (kraals) from a vector of human sleeping sickness. He is supported by a scholarship from the European Union.

Njelembo obtained a BSc in Biological Sciences and a MSc in Epidemiology from the University of Zambia.
