Research project: Assessment of Greenhouse gas emissions for Chicken Production System reared on Insect Based Feed

Mariana is a DRIP MSc Scholar supervised by Dr. Chrysantus Tanga (icipe), Dr. Duncan Mbuge (University of Nairobi) and Prof. Urbanus Mutwiwa (Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology). Her research interest is in sustainable systems, specifically green house gas emissions of systems in the face of climate change. Mariana is currently researching on the levels of green house gas emissions from a system that rears insects and uses them as feed for both broiler and layer chickens.

Mariana completed her BSc studies in Environmental and Biosystems Engineering at University of Nairobi, Kenya, and is currently registered for her MSc at the University of Nairobi, Kenya. She is supported by the university’s Graduate School scholarship program and the DRIP MSc scholarship from icipe.

She is a registered graduate engineer.
