Justice Kwaku Addo
Research project: Chemical modification of a biologically active compound, Thymol.
Justice is a DRIP PhD Scholar supervised by Prof. Baldwyn Torto (icipe) and Prof. Ernest Owusu Ansah (University of Cape Coast, Ghana). Justice’s research interests include organic synthetic chemistry and medicinal chemistry. His PhD research is on the chemical modification of the biologically active compound thymol, which is a naturally occurring biocide with strong antimicrobial properties. The work seeks to find out if there is enhanced biological activity of thymol derivatives on human and plant pathogenic microorganisms. He is currently registered for a PhD at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, and is supported by a scholarship from TWAS.
Justice completed his undergraduate studies in BSc Chemistry and Master of Philosophy in Chemistry at the University of Cape Coast. Justice is a member of the Ghana Science Association and the Ghana Chemical Society.
