Research project: Biological control of soil-dwelling pests in cacao agroforests using encapsulated CO2 impregnated with endophytic fungi

Felicitas is an ARPPIS PhD Scholar supervised by Dr Sunday Ekesi (icipe). Her research interests include developing biological control strategies against soil dwelling insect pests. She is currently researching the potential of entomopathogenic fungi (Metarhizium and Beauveria) isolated from cacao leaves in combination with CO2, which termites use to locate food sources, for termite control in cacao as an alternative to organochlorine (cyclodiene) insecticides. She is supported by a scholarship from DAAD.

Felicitas holds a BSc Zoology from the University of Buea, Cameroon, and obtained a MSc in Entomology from the University of Ghana, Legon.
