Dr Shepard Ndlela is  a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, post harvest, under the Plant Health Theme. Shepard holds a PhD in Entomology from the University of Nairobi, Kenya, an MSc in Tropical Entomology and a BSc in Biological Sciences from the University of Zimbabwe. Prior to joining icipe, Shepard was working with the Tobacco Research Board, Zimbabwe as an Entomologist where his focus was on identifying insect pests and advising farmers on insect pests management, research on good agricultural practices, and integrated pest management. He has also worked as a Curator Entomologist at the Natural History Museum of Zimbabwe.
