Dr Holger Kirscht
Dr Holger Kirscht is a Gender Expert in the Social Science and Impact Assessment (SSIA) Unit. His contract is co-funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through the CIM-Integrated Experts Program managed by GIZ, Germany.
His work focuses on the mainstreaming of gender components into the Centre’s research projects, the sensitization of staff on gender integration and the evaluation of impacts on women’s empowerment. His research interests include gender analysis, impact assessment related to women’s roles in agricultural production, and the scaling of research and development activities.
Holger holds a PhD and an MSc in Social Anthropology from University of Frankfurt. Before joining icipe, he was an Advisor at the Advisory Service on Agricultural Research for Development (BEAF), of GIZ in Bonn. Prior to this, Holger served as a social scientist at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Cameroon, and as a gender focal point for two CGIAR Research Programs, Humidtropics and the Roots, Tubers and Bananas CRP. He has also developed and managed research projects and gender trainings.
